Cycling along the Ecological Park
with Zihuatanejo’s foremost biologist
Pablo Mendizabal is a Zihuatanejo native, who studied biology at the National University of Mexico. He has made himself a name in the community because of his commitment and activities regarding the preservation of the different species of fauna and flora in and around Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. He is presently pursuing an ambitious project for a major ecological reserve and park in the swamp area around Ixtapa, for which the federal government already assigned an area of 1,600 acres.
We take you to Ixtapa, from where the bicycle tour will start: through the residential area of the Palma Real Golf Course and along the bicycle course that takes you to Playa Linda beach. Enjoy the warm sunlight of a clear afternoon on your easy to handle, slow speed bike. The whole journey on bicycle is about 10 miles long, as you pass twice through the Ecological Park “Aztlan” and the observatory at “Laguna del Negro” where the fauna and flora will be explained to you. A short stop at the crocodile pit is part of the excursion, which ends at the Ixtapa Marina. You might want to stay for a sunset cocktail at one of Marina’s waterfront restaurants, before you return to the club.
Take along sunscreen and mosquito protection. The cost includes your bicycle, helmet and purified drinking water.
Daily.
Departure time from the hotel: 3.30 PM
